HWSA Tournament - Championship Game April 18

April 18
Plano, Texas

HWSA Regional Qualifier

Game 3 - Winner's Bracket
Tulsa NOAH Jaguars beat Memphis Eagles 7-0 in the winner's bracket game on Saturday to secure a berth to the HWSA World Series and to play in the Regional Championship game. Junior John Tyree pitched a 3-hit shutout. The defense played great getting out a bases loaded jam with 1 out allowing no runs.

The Jags had runners on base every inning but didn't score until the 4th. Trey Weaver reached after being hit by a pitch. He later scored on Jeb Penrod's sacrifice fly. In the 5th Joe Sabatini slugged out a 2 RBI triple and then scored himself on a passed ball. In the 6th Avery and Jebediah Penrod each walked. Avery scored on Sam Brownwood's sacrifice fly and Jeb scored on Justin Leekley's single. John Tyree reached on a fielder's choice and scored on Andrew Smith's RBI double. Bringing the score to 7-0 and qualifying the Jaguars to compete in the CHAMPIONSHIP GAME and a trip to the World Series in Florida. This is the last year for the regional tournaments so that makes this an even sweeter win!

Game 4 - Championship Game
The Jags played the OKC Broncos in the Championship game on Saturday afternoon. Jags took an early 3-1 lead. The Broncos came back with 3 unearned runs in the 3rd inning to lead 4-3. The Broncos added on a pair of runs to win their 2nd consecutive HWSA Regional Championship over the Jags 6-3. The defensive highlight of the game was a spectacular diving play by shortstop Jeb Penrod to his right and throwing the lead runner at second base.

The Jags qualified as the West #2 seed at the HWSA World Series in Pensacola, Florida on May 18-21.
