Word of Life Fire (Wichita, KS) 2
The Fire took the lead in the top of the first on a single then later scored on a Jaguar error. The Jags threatened in the 1st and the 2nd and finally scored one unearned run in the 3rd inning to tie the game 1-1. In the 4th inning the Fire added another unearned run to go ahead 2-1. Avery Penrod lead off the bottom of the 4th with a nice triple (going 3 for 4), but was left stranded on bases. In the bottom of the 5th the Jaguars exploded for 6 runs on 6 hits. Trey Weaver lead off with a single. Joe Sabatini and Parker McDaniel both reached on walks to load the bases. Jeb Penrod came through again with a bases clearing double to give the Jags the lead for the first time in the game. Jeb advanced to 3rd on a throwing error and then scored on a passed ball. Austin Ervin followed with a double and scored on Justin
Leekley's RBI double. The Fire then changed pitchers. Andrew Smith greeted the new pitcher with a two run HOME RUN over the leftcenter field fence. Trey Weaver hit his second single of the inning before the Fire scored the last out with the Jags on top 8-2. A nice double play by Avery Penrod ended the Fire threat in the top of the 6th. The Jaguars scored 2 more runs in the 6th on a walk, an error, and an RBI single by Avery Penrod to give the Jags an eight run to end the game.
Jags record on the season is 14-13. Next game is Monday, April 27 vs #2 6A Broken Arrow JV at Broken Arrow Field.
