Beggs Tournament Results

Game 1 April 1st
3A #10 Haskell 10 NOAH 1

The game was scoreless until the 3rd inning. A walk and two Jag errors allowed the Haymakers to score 3 runs. The Jags answered with one run in the bottom of the 3rd. Joe Sabatini lead off with a single and scored on Parker McDaniel's RBI double. Unfortunately those were the only Jag hits in the game. Haskell added 7 more runs in the fourth off 4 hits, 2 walks and 4 Jag errors. The loss put the Jags on the consolation side of the bracket.

John Tyree pitched. He gave up 5 hits (1 double and 1 triple), and had two strikeouts. Austin Ervin relieved for one inning allowing only 1 single.



Game 2 April 2nd
NOAH 8 4A Victory Christian 0

Trey Weaver lead off the bottom of the 1st with a double and then stole 3rd base. The Conquerors had a batter reach after a single in the top of the 2nd but was put out on a double play. The Jags continued the hitting in the bottom of the 2nd with 3 singles and scoring one run. Parker McDaniel hit a double in the 3rd but was stranded at 3rd base. In the top of the 4th, a Victory batter hit a double. He was the only Conqueror to reach 2nd base in the entire game and he was left stranded. The Jags added four runs in the bottom of the 4th. Andrew Smith started it off with his first varsity home run over the left field fence. Austin Ervin followed with a single and stole 2nd. He then scored on Joe Sabatini's 2 RBI home run over the center field fence. That was the end of the scoring even though Trey Weaver and Jebediah Penrod hit singles before the inning ended. In the 5th Andrew Smith hit a double (going 3 for 3) and scored on Ervin's 3rd single of the day (also going 3 for 3). This gave the Jags a 6-0 lead. In the 6th inning Trey Weaver hit his second double of the day (going 3 for 4) and scored on John Tyree's RBI double. McDaniel followed with an RBI single and the game was called due to the Jags 8 run lead after 5 innings. The Jags banged out 15 hits - the most in a game this year!

Sam Brownwood started and recorded a win. He pitched 4 innings allowing only 2 hits (one double) and striking out 6 batters. Andrew Smith relieved for two innings and recorded another save. He faced 6 batters and recorded 5 strikeouts and no hits after not pitching for four weeks due to injuries.

The Jags will play Okmulgee Bulldogs at 2:30 in the consolation championship game Friday in Beggs.
