Collinsville Tournament - Pool Play Games - March 17th & 18th

Game 1
NOAH  Jaguars vs Owasso Rams

March 17th


The undefeated and defending 6A champions Rams pitched a 2 hit shut-out (singles by Erik Willis and Josh Ferguson). The Rams scored 7 runs in the 2nd inning and added 1 in the 3rd and two in the 4th. The game ended 10-0.

Starter John Tyree pitched two innings allowing 7 earned runs, 7 hits, and 3 walks. Andrew Smith relieved for 3 innings allowing 3 runs (2 earned), 3 hits, 3walks. And one strike out.

 
Game 2
NOAH Jaguars vs Bishop Kelley Comets

March 17

The second game of the day was against 5A #5 Bishop Kelley. In the 1st inning Andrew Smith reached base on a double (his first of two doubles for the day) and then scored on Sam Brownwood's rbi single. The Comets answered with 3 runs in the bottom of the first after 2 errors, 2 walks and a triple. The Jags threatened a few times but it wasn't until the top of the 7th before they added more runs. Erik Willis reached on a single and scored on Joe Sabatini's 2 run HOMER tying the score. That was the Jags first homer of the year and sent the game into extra innings. The Jags held the Comets scoreless in the bottom of the 7th, 8th, and 9th. In the top of the 10th Andrew Smith reached on a walk and was advanced around to 3rd and then scored the go ahead run on a beautiful rbi single by Ben Beaver. The Jags were on top 4-3. The Comets came up to bat bunting - 3 bunts in a row loading the bases and then the winning runs were walked in to give the Comets the game 5-4 after 2 and 3/4 hours of cold baseball!

Sam Brownwood was the Jaguar starter pitching 4 innings, 3 runs, 2 hits, 2 walks and 1 strikeout. Freshman pitcher Josh Ferguson relieved and pitched beautifully for 5 innings. He allowed 2 runs, 5 hits and hit one batter. Andrew Smith finished the game walking 2 batters.

Game 3
NOAH Jaguars vs. Jay Bulldogs

March 18th

On a much warmer and nicer day for baseball the Jaguars faced the 4A #9 Jay Bulldogs in their third game of the Collinsville tournament. For the third game in a row the Jags recorded runs in their first at bats. Joe Sabatini hit a two out double then advanced to third on Jebadiah Penrod's single. Both came in to score on Sam Brownwood's 2 rbi single giving them a 2-0 lead over the Bulldogs. The Bulldogs answered with 5 runs on a single, 2 doubles, 2 walks and a hit batsman in the bottom of the 2nd. Then the Bulldogs added another run in the 3rd. The Jags threatened in the 2nd and 3rd but didn't score any more runs until the 4th. Ben Beaver had a single, followed by a walk of Erik Willis and then both scored on Andrew Smith's 2 rbi double giving the Jags 4 runs pulling within two of the Bulldogs. Unfortunately the Bulldogs added 2 more runs in their half of the inning after 4 hits and one walk. The Jags added one more run after Jeb Penrod singled and scored on Ben's second single of the day. The Bulldogs answered with two runs in the 5th. The Jags loaded the bases with one out but couldn't push across a run. In the 6th inning the Bulldogs added 3 more runs on 2 singles, a double and a walk to bring their score to 13 and an 8 run lead over the Jags to end the game with a final score of 13-5.

Andrew Smith started but left in the 2nd inning. He had 4 earned runs, 2 hits including one double, 4 walks, 1 hit batter, and 4 strike outs. Joe Sabatini relieved allowing 9 runs (8 earned), 11 hits including 3 doubles, 3 walks and 2 strike outs.


Jags will play for 7th place on Saturday at 11 a.m.
