Mounds Tournament Game 1
Morris 8 NOAH 3
The Morris Eagles struck first getting one run on 3 hits in the bottom of the 1st and then added another run in the 2nd. In the top of the 5th, junior Sam Brownwood reached on an error and then scored on Cole Wilson's single, his first Varsity hit. The Eagles led off the 5th with a home run for a 3-1 lead. In the top of the 6th inning Jebediah Penrod led off with a single, followed by a single by Joe Sabatini. Both came in to score on Sam Brownwood's single to tie the game, 3-3. In the bottom of the sixth the Eagles tallied 5 more runs on 3 hits and 3 Jag errors. The Eagles pitcher struck out the side to secure the win for Morris, 8-3, sending the Jags to the consolation bracket.
Austin Ervin started and pitched 5 innings allowing 3 runs (2 earned), 5 hits (one home run), one walk and one strike out. Sam Brownwood relieved and recorded the loss allowing 5 runs (only one earned), 3 hits including a triple, a walk and two strikeouts.
Game 2
NOAH 10 Beggs JV 1
Beggs got on the scoreboard first. In the top of the first they led off with a double and then scored on a single. The Jags tallied 10 runs in the bottom of the first. Trey Weaver led of the game with a walk and later scored on a passed ball. John Tyree reached on an error and was later tagged out while advancing to third. Parker McDaniel drew another walk. Sam Brownwood reached on a fielder's choice. Jebediah Penrod was hit by a pitch loading the bases. Avery Penrod then hit a GRAND SLAM, his first home run of the year. Joe Sabatini reached on a walk and advanced around the bases on an error and a passed ball. Justin Leekley reached on a fielder's choice followed by 3 walks in a row. Sam Brownwood delivered a 2-run single. Jebediah Penrod followed with an RBI double to put the Jags on top 10-1. In the bottom of the 3rd the game was stopped for lightning and the threat of severe storms. Beggs conceded the game giving the Jags the victory.
Avery Penrod started and pitched all 3 innings allowing one earned run on 2 hits (one double), one walk and 2 strikeouts. Another win was recorded for Avery Penrod.
The Jags game on Friday was postponed until a later date.
The Jags will travel on Monday, March 30th to take on the Sand Springs Sandites.
