Elementary Baseball Sign-ups - UPDATE

NEW LEAGUE in 2012 - The elementary REC league teams will play in the Indian Springs REC League this year. Teams will be formed based on Age as of 4/30/12.

NOAH Families,

On behalf of the NOAH Board, I'd like to thank you for your prayers and active voices over the past couple of months as the Board has worked its way through trying to define and clarify the Eligibility Requirements for participation in NOAH.

As the successes of home based education continue to grow and spread in the midst of a public school culture that continues to remove itself from any form of biblical underpinning, the options and number of families opting to educate from home will only grow. Currently, being educated from home can be accomplished traditionally by mom and dad or through the use of tutors, coops, online enrollment, distance learning and correspondence classes. Being educated from home can be part time, full time, diploma based tracks or non-diploma based. Home education can be achieved by completely private funding of the parents, completely public funding through public school systems, public school systems partnering with charter schools or multiple combinations of all. As you can see, the model has morphed to such an extent that there will never be a universally agreed upon definition of “Home Schooling”. The best that can be accomplished is to develop a NOAH definition that aligns most consistently with the mission and vision of the organization, then clearly and consistently communicate it.

The NOAH Board has prayerfully chosen to not broaden its current definition for NOAH eligibility. The amendment (highlighted below) was made to clarify that only student athletes that meet the three criteria as defined as "parent directed" AND are being home educated through privately funded means are allowed to participate in NOAH.

NOAH ELIGIBILITY GUIDELINES

Home schooled is defined to mean that a student’s education is parent‐directed.

As such, the parents shall be involved in their child’s education by assuming the role of principal or
headmaster, thereby:

(1) Setting the date and requirements for high school graduation.
(2) Selecting and approving course materials and study schedules.
(3) Selecting tutors, correspondence courses, videos, computer courses and similar resources for their child’s education.

∙Students enrolled in a publically/government funded education program are NOT eligible for participation in NOAH athletics with the exception of concurrent/post secondary enrollment as stated *below.

∙ There are a number of home school tutorial institutions in Northeastern Oklahoma.

Based on information provided, the NOAH Board has reviewed and approved students attending the following institutions as eligible for participation in NOAH Athletics:

1. Cornerstone Tutorial Center
2. Faith Central Christian Academy
3. One Hope Tutorial Center
4. Augustine Christian Academy (if enrolled part time)
5. Regent Prepatory (if enrolled in the 9th grade or above, part time)
6. C.E.A. Christian Education Alliance

The NOAH Board will review requests from additional institutions on an as
needed basis.

∙ Clearly, full time enrollment in a traditional public or private school is not homeschooling because the child’s education in such schools is not parent directed.

∙ *It is understood that students may have the opportunity to take dual‐credit
college courses, (Concurrent Enrollment), particularly in their junior or senior years. NOAH encourages such enrollment by homeschooled students and the definition above shall not be construed to mean that such students are not homeschooled if the participating college admitted the homeschooled student as
a high school student.

Students are limited to no more than 6 credit hours of concurrent enrollment
per semester.

∙ There may be additional and/or different sport specific eligibility guidelines for
end‐of‐the‐season, regional or national tournaments. Please be sure to see the
sport specific addendum to this handbook for further information concerning
eligibility in those tournaments.

∙ As of September 1st, 2009 all NOAH private school athletes on a Fall 2009 or prior
season (Fall 08 / Spring 09) roster are eligible to continue participation in NOAH
up to their High School graduation date, i.e., "grandfathered" into the NOAH
program.

*Participation must be continuous, without interruption.

Where there is a question of eligibility due to the definition of homeschooling,
the NOAH Board shall review the matter and render a decision in writing in a timely manner to the affected party. The Board reserves the right to modify this policy/definition if needed, as the homeschooling movement continues to grow and change.

The age cut off dates are 5/1/2012.

For the 13U team, you can not turn 14 prior to 5/1/12.
For the 11U team, you can not turn 12 prior to 5/1/12.

Applebee's Fundraiser is a Huge Success!

The high school baseball fundraiser at Applebee's on Saturday, Oct. 8th was a huge success! We would like to thank Applebee's for hosting the event in support of the high school program. Thanks to all the coaches, players, families and friends for your support in making it a success! The final tally shows a net donation of $2,606.80 after paying Applebee's. GREAT JOB!!

The next fundraising event will be a baseball conference on November 5th provided by MLB Scout, Jim Walton along with current and former MLB players Steven Shell and Rusty Gerhardt. More details will be announced later.

High School Baseball Pancake Fundraiser - Sat October 8th

NOAH High School Baseball is holding a Applebees Pancake breakfast fundraiser on Saturday, October 8th from 7am to 10am. Tickets are $6 each with an immediate family cap of $25. This includes pancakes, sausage links, and your choice of drink! Tickets are being sold by the players or you can just show up for a great breakfast and help our NOAH Jags Baseball program! NOAH gets to keep 80% of the proceeds.

Spring 2012 Youth Competitive Team Tryouts - October 15th

Baseball Spring 2012 Competitive Team Tryouts – 10U thru 14U

For all tryouts please arrive 30 minutes early for warm-up.

All prospects need to pre-register by emailing player's name, date of birth, team previously played on to Darron Replogle at baseball@noahjags.org

All prospects should dress in baseball attire (wear a protective cup) and bring your glove, bat and water bottle. Tryouts will commence on time as indicated below.

All team rosters are open. If you played on a NOAH competitive team last year, you must tryout again this year.
The tryouts will last approximately 2 hours. Depending on the number of prospects, it could be longer.

Tryout Dates:

13U/14U Team - Oct. 15th - 9:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m.
Ages 13 or 14 and under as of 4/30/2012

11U/12U Team - Oct. 15th - 11:30- 1:30 p.m.
Ages 11 or 12 and under as of 4/30/2012

10U Team – Oct. 15th - 1:30-3:30 p.m.
Ages 9 or 10 and under as of 4/30/2012

Tryout Location: NOAH Practice Fields located at 83rd and S. 129th East Ave. (between 81st and 91st) at the New Creations Church. There are no restroom facilities at the practice fields. The nearest facility is at the QuikTrip at the corner of 81st and Garnett. Please take care of business prior to tryout.

Roster: Each team will be limited to 10 or 11 players. Please note that if we have enough players to form odd age teams like an 11 yr old and/or 13 yr old team, we will form teams accordingly. For the evaluation purposes, we are combining ages. Players must be homeschool unless grandfathered into the program.

Fees: Expect to pay anywhere from $250-300 plus $100-120 uniform cost.

2012 League: The last three years, all competitive teams have played at Indian Springs (131st and 145th east ave). Each year, we evaluate which league is the best fit for our teams. There are 14-16 regular season games plus 4-5 weekend tournaments. Please note, there will be occasional tournament games played on Sunday at varying times during the day. Please consider this circumstance when you make your decision to try out for a competitive team.

Baseball Recognition Night - NOAH Football Halftime - Sept. 9th

The baseball program will be recognized at the NOAH football home game this Friday, September 9th. The football Jags will play Metro Christian Patriots at 7:30 p.m.

NOAH will play at the BA South Intermediate field located just east of Elm Street on 101st in Broken Arrow.

All 2011 baseball players and coaches will be admitted free if they wear a game jersey and/or cap. Just tell the gate attendee you play baseball for NOAH. Special recognition will be given for the 12U 2011 Oklahoma USSSA State Champions!

Right before halftime, meet at the south end of the field. The PA guy will announce the baseball program and you can walk on the field in front of the home crowd to be recognized.

The NOAH 13U team traveled to Cedar Hill, Texas to compete in the 14 and under Class A World Series on June 23-26. The first day of activities was the skills and drills competition. Josiah Lynn finished 2nd place in the accuracy throw from centerfield to home plate. Caleb Raper finished in 3rd place in the velocity throw. Caleb was clocked at 67 mph. The winner was clocked at 69 mph, second place was 68 mph. Austin Lilly, Will Grantham, Ben Replogle, Pat Castleberry, Keaton McDaniel and Matt Merrill finished in 3rd place in the Around the Horn competition. The day ended with a parade for all teams.

The Jags started pool play on Thursday against Texas 14A State Champion White Settlement, TX Express. It was a close game 6-4 until the Express broke open the game to win 14-4. In the second pool play game, the Jags were outdueled 4-2 by the White Settlemen, TX Dodgers. The Jags last pool game was on Friday against Red Oak, Texas, the defending 13U 2010 World Series Champion. The Jags battled the whole game and with the game tied 8-8 with two outs, Josiah Lynn knocked in Austin Lilly with an RBI double to win the game. The Jags and Red Oak battled again the next day in double elimination bracket play. The Jags jumped out early and coasted to an 11-2 win over Red Oak. The Jags then played the undefeated #1 seed White Settlement, TX Mets. The Jags scored 5 runs in the first inning and took an 8-3 lead. The Mets battled back to within 8-6. The Mets then scored 4 runs to take a 10-8 lead into the last inning. With 2 outs, Logan Stolz hit an RBI single to score Aaron Field. Caleb Raper hit an RBI double to score Stolz to tie the game. Pat Castleberry hit a sharp grounder to second baseman who bobbled and made a low throw to first not in time for the out to allow Raper to score the go ahead run. Matt Merrill pitched the bottom half of the inning striking out 3 of the 4 batters faced to shut down the Mets.

The Jags faced the #2 seed Express in the winner's bracket game. The Jags jumped out early 3-0 but the Express roared back and won the game 11-3 in six innings. The Mets battled back through the loser's bracket to take on the Jags for a chance to play the Express in the Championship. The Jags held a 2-1 lead through three innings. A few miscues in the field lead to 7 runs of which only 3 were earned. The Mets held on to win 8-3. The 13U Jags finished in 3rd place in the 14U Class A World Series. The Jags held their own against bigger and older competition. Good job Jags!

Oklahoma State Championships - FINAL Update

The 12U, 13U and 14U baseball teams competed in the Oklahoma USSSA State Championships over the weekend. The teams battled top teams across the state in hot and windy temperatures over a 3-day period. The 12U and 13U both played in the Championship game in their age group.

The 12U team was seeded #14 out of 17 teams and swept through the brackets knocking off the #3-seed Pryor, #6-seed Sand Springs, #1-seed SS Sox and beat the #2-seed Mannford Pirates twice to capture the 12U Oklahoma State Championship!

The 13U team went in the State Tournament as the #4-seed. They beat the #5-seed Muskogee and the #1-seed Stillwater and then lost to #7-seed Yukon. They then played the #5-seed Muskogee again and beat them 10-2 for a shot in the championship game against Yukon. Yukon beat the Jags10-5 in the finals. The Jags finished as 13U Oklahoma State Runner-ups.

The 10U team recently finished in first place in league play with a 11-3-1 record. The team played in the post season tournament during the week of June 6-9 at Indian Springs. The Jags won their first two pool games beating the BA Marlins 13-11 and Cedar Ridge Rangers 15-6. In the bracket play, they beat the BA Titans 10-8. In the semi-finals, the Jags beat the BA Colt .45s 5-4. For the Championship, they beat the BA Outlaws 11-3. Joe Donegan hit 3 home-runs over the fence in the tournament.

The 10U finished the season 19-3-1 led by coaches Andrew Moss, Randie Grantham and Chris Wunsch.

12U Team wins UnionTournament

The NOAH 12U Team won the Union Tournament at Hilti Park on May 7th. The Jags won their pool play games over Checotah and Oklahoma Revolution the weekend before but due to rain they had to finish up bracket play this past Saturday. They beat the Bixby Braves in the first round of bracket play 14-4. In the semi-finals, they beat the Checotah Wildcats 8-4. In the Championship game, the Jags won 21-6 over the Oklahoma Revolution. The 12U team is currently ranked #1 in the State and #7 in the Nation in the 12U division.

World Series Update - May 7th

Tulsa NOAH Jaguar finished in 7th place out of 28 teams at the Homeschool World Series in Auburndale, Florida. The Jags run-ruled the 11th-ranked Montgomery, AL 20-0 in three innings. Tulsa NOAH Jaguars played in the consolation semi-finals on Friday afternoon against 3rd-ranked Richmond, VA. Jaguars scored early to take a 2-0 lead but the Richmond Patriots came back strong to win 8-2. NOAH will play Saturday morning at 9:30 a.m. versus 11th-ranked Montgomery, Alabama for 7th place in the Division 1 Championship Bracket.

World Series Update - Friday May 6th

The 9th-ranked Tulsa NOAH Jaguars lost 10-5 to the 4th-ranked and #6 seed Ft. Worth Riders in the Division 1 quarter-finals on Thursday afternoon.

Jags play Friday at 2:00 p.m. in the consolation bracket semi-finals against 8th-ranked and #2 seed Richmond, North Carolina. Richmond lost their opening round game 6-5 to 3rd-ranked and #7 seed Raleigh, NC.

If the Jags win today, they play for the consolation championship (5th place) on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. If they lose, they play for 7th place on Saturday at 10:30 a.m.

HWSA Update Thursday May 5th - Jags Advance to Div 1

The 9th-ranked Tulsa NOAH Jaguars won their qualifier game in the Championship Brackets this morning 3-1 over the unranked Peachtree City Citadels. The game was scoreless through the first two innings until the Jags scored 3 runs in the top of the 3rd. The Citadels scored one run in the bottom of the 6th inning. Freshman Josh Ferguson pitched a complete game scattering 7 hits, no walks and 6 strikeouts on 105 pitches.

The Jags will be the #3 seed in the Division 1 Championship Bracket and will play the quarterfinal game today at 3:30 pm CST against nationally 4th-ranked and the #6 seed Ft. Worth THESA Riders.

The outcome was a disappointing 2-7 loss for the Jaguars.

Tuesday at 9am ET, the Tulsa NOAH team plays the 18th-ranked Raleigh Hawks. The winner gets another shot at the championship bracket with a rematch against Charlotte Stampede at 2pm ET.

If the Jaguars are unsuccessful, they will enter the Div.3 bracket for the remainder of the week.

10U Jaguars win Pre-Season Tournament - March 31st

The 10U Jaguars won the BAYB Randy Broyles Pre-Season Tournament on March 31st. The Jags beat the BA Blackhawks in the first round 17-0. In the second round, the Jags beat the Colt 45s 14-1. The Jags beat the Marlins in the semi-finals 11-4. The Jags played the Marlins again the championship game and won 8-5. Jags take their 4-0 record into league play beginning next week. Way to go Jags!

Who: Homeschool Players Grades K-5th grade. TKB(Tulsa Kids Baseball) has a September 1st cutoff date. So your age will determine the grade.

NOAH has a No Pay No Play policy and a No Refund Policy on player fees. There are some exceptions to these rules but they are rare. Make check payable to NOAH.

We will wear the same uniform design as last year which was royal blue t-shirt, belt and socks, grey pants, royal blue cap. You are allowed to wear last year’s uniform so long as it still looks good.

2011 High School Baseball Schedule Released

Youth Fall Practice plus Work Day

Friday, October 1st, is the last youth practice day for the fall. Be at the field for warm-ups by 5:45 pm.

Also, Saturday, October 2nd is a work day at the baseball field. Please bring a shovel, rake, wheelbarrow, weedeater, and/or work gloves. We need to get the field prepped for winter and clean out the storage shed. We need everyone from 1st grade to high school players and dads that can help to be at the field at 8:00 a.m.

Spring 2011 Youth Competitive Team Tryouts - October 9th

Baseball Spring 2011 Competitive Team Tryouts – 10U thru 14U

For all tryouts please arrive 30 minutes early for sign-in and to warm-up.

All prospects should dress in baseball attire (wear a protective cup) and bring your glove, bat and water bottle. Tryouts will commence on time as indicated below. You should start throwing the baseball now. Don’t wait until next week to start throwing the baseball. Your arm will be tested at various ranges during the tryouts. You don’t want to jeopardize an injury for failure to prepare now and cost your chance at a spot on the team.

All team rosters are open. If you played on a NOAH competitive team last year, you must tryout again this year.

Roster: Each team will be limited to 10 or 11 players. Please note that if we have enough players to form odd age teams like an 11 yr old and/or 13 yr old team, we will form teams accordingly. For the evaluation purposes, we are combining ages. Players must be homeschool unless grandfathered into the program.

Fees: Expect to pay anywhere from $200-300 plus $100-120 uniform cost.

2011 League: The last two years, all competitive teams have played at Indian Springs (131st and 145th east ave). Each year, we evaluate which league is the best fit for our teams. There are 14-16 regular season games plus 4-5 weekend tournaments. Please note, there will be occasional tournament games played on Sunday at varying times during the day. Please consider this circumstance when you make your decision to try out for a competitive team.

FAQs

What level of play will NOAH teams compete? Historically, due to the number of players and our culture, NOAH has competed at the AA level. We are a homeschool program and our focus is to develop our “homeschool” talent with the intention of competing against like-skilled talent or better in hope of making us better players in preparation for the high school team. Ultimately, our goal is compete for league, state and national championships through youth to high school levels. If you play competitive baseball, expect to play 14-16 league games plus 16-20 tournament games throughout the season. The season starts in April and ends the last part of June. Indoor workouts start in February. Competitive team players are expected to make time and financial commitments to the team.

Will there be another tryout date if I can’t make this date? Maybe but not guaranteed, we are looking to field a competitive team. Therefore, if after the evaluations there are not 10-11 players with above average skill, we could have another tryout date in November or December. Of course the weather could play a part on our tryout date.

What if my son is not selected for the competitive team? Depending on his skill level, he could be placed on an “alternate” list in case there’s a spot that becomes available before the season starts. NOAH encourages all players to keep working on their skills and to play on the developmental team or tryout out for another competitive team. Life is full of failures and successes, just because they don’t make the NOAH team, inspire them to continue honing their skills. Historically, there has been developmental teams available for 12 and younger players. Developmental team signups will be January 2011. The last two years we had enough interest to form a 14U developmental team. Our first priority is field a competitive team. If there’s enough interest we will do whatever possible to have developmental teams. We have a good working relationship with Indian Springs, so we expect to place the developmental teams there. Developmental teams generally play around 20 games. The player fees are less due to fewer tournaments.

Who will coach the teams? I am in the process of evaluating and selecting a head coach for each team. I desire to have a head coach in place before the tryouts but due to the tryout process and number of teams involved, that determination may not take place until the tryouts or thereafter. The evaluators for the tryouts will be coaching candidates as well as members of the high school coaching staff. We are blessed to have dads with several years of coaching experience.

The baseball program will be recognized at the NOAH football home game this Friday, September 17th. The football Jags will play Stilwell Indians at 7:30 p.m.

NOAH will play at the BA North Intermediate field on 808 East College (south of 71st and Lynn Lane in Broken Arrow).

All 2010 baseball players and coaches will be admitted free if they wear a game jersey and/or cap. Just tell the gate attendee you play baseball for NOAH. Special recognition will be given for the 2010 Homeschool World Series Silver Division Champions!

Right before halftime, meet at the end of the field by the locker room. The PA guy will announce the baseball program and you can walk on the field in front of the home crowd to be recognized. The volleyball and soccer programs will also be recognized.

Youth Fall Baseball Practices

NOAH youth baseball will be conducting fall practices at the NOAH practice fields located at 83rd and 129th east avenue. All homeschool players between the ages 9-14 as of May 1st, 2011 are welcome to attend. We will divide the players into three groups: 9/10, 11/12 and 13/14. Players will work on fundamentals in preparation for the competitive team tryouts on October 9th.

Players should bring water bottle, glove and bat. Players wear baseball attire, shorts are acceptable.

Fall Baseball Signups - Ages 9-14

Fall baseball is just around the corner. Fall baseball is a relaxed atmosphere with little or no practices. It gives players an opportunity to fine tune their pitching, hitting and fielding skills.

Players that are between the ages of 9 and 14 as of May 1, 2011 are eligible to play.

BAYB-Indian Springs will start on Aug 22^nd and finish Oct 3^rd. Teams that are 11 and older will use wood bat. The 10U team will use metal bats. There are no standings and no trophies. No uniforms required. It’s a 12 game season with doubleheaders on Sunday. You play up the age group in which you will compete in the Spring season. Depending on the number of players, the cost per player will be between $50-$60 dollars plus your purchase of a $40 wood bat.

If you are interested, please send your name and birthdate to Darron Replogle @ baseball@noahjags.org by August 1st. Teams will be formed on a first come, first serve basis.

General: The 2010 Spring season has completed. Highlights of the season include the Varsity winning the HWSA World Series Silver Division Championship in Auburndale, Florida. We have 11 teams participating in Spring Baseball with 1 team winning league championship. We had two teams finish second in league play. The program’s 2010 overall record is 112 wins, 106 losses and 7 ties.

Varsity/JV Baseball:The High School Varsity team completed its season with a 14-14 overall record. The JV team’s record was 14-8. The Jags captured the HWSA Silver Division Championship. They also won the Chelsea Wood Bat Tournament and finished 4^th in the Ozark Classic in Harrison, Arkansas. The JV team won the Bristow JV Festival. Seniors Austin Ervin and Erik Willis along with sophomore Joe Sabatini were selected as HWSA World Series All-Americans.

Competitive Teams:
Three competitive teams played in the Arkansas River Valley Baseball league comprised of teams from Indian Springs, Bixby and Jenks. The 14U finished in second place. The 12U Black finished third and the 12U Blue finished 6^th. All three team competed in Super Series and USSSA tournaments. The 14U team finished in 4^th place in the BA tournament. The 12U Black team won the Skiatook Wood Bat Tournament, finished 2^nd place in the Claremore Tournament and 9^th place in the AA State Tournament out of 19 teams. The 12U Blue team finished in 4^th place in the Jenks Tournament.

NOAH Baseball will be conducting a second round of high school tryouts this Saturday, June 26^th at 9:00 a.m. at the NOAH practice field located at 83^rd and 129^th east avenue. Due to the large turnout at the first tryout, the coaches would like to see everyone again this weekend for a final evaluation. The 10U Jaguars won the Arkansas River Valley Baseball post season tournament on Friday, June 11th. The Jags entered the tournament on a 17 game winning streak. They beat the Bixby Braves in the opening round 11-8. In the second round, the Jags played the BA Pirates. The Jags had beaten the Pirates three times but the Pirates came out swinging the bats to give the Jags their first loss of the year 11-4 which sent the Jags to the loser bracket. The Braves fought back through to play the Jags in an elimination game. The Jags won 9-7 to set up a rematch with the Pirates. The Jags turned up the heat on the Pirates and run ruled them 14-2 to play the "if" game for the Championship. The Jags kept their hot hitting and solid pitching as they run ruled the Pirates in the Championship game 13-2. The 10U Jaguars finished the season with a 21-1 record. They won the pre-season tournament, regular season and post-season tournament. Way to GO!

The 10U Jaguars went 14-0 to win the league championship at Indian Springs in Broken Arrow. The Jags played stellar defense, had timely hits and solid pitching to put together a "perfect" undefeated record. They had a couple come-from-behind victories during their last at-bats to win games. All things came together at different games and the Jags had a never quit attitude. Congratulations on a well played season!

12U Jags win Skiatook Wood Bat Tournament

The 12U Jags won the Skiatook 12U Wood Bat Tournament over the May 22nd weekend. The Jags beat the Skiatook Thunderstix 12-4 in the first game. Being down 4-0, the Jags scored 12 runs in the bottom of the 3rd inning highlighted by a 3-run homerun over the fence by Matt Merrill. The Jags beat the Bartlesville Tornadoes in the second game 8-4 behind the pitching of Nathaniel Moss and Will Grantham. The Jags jumped on the Pawhuska Titans 16-1 for a shot in the championship game. Evan Jacoby started the game with a double to centerfield. Keaton McDaniel, Jono Harrington, Austin Lilly, Nano Moss and Matt Merrill all had 2 hits a piece.

In the championship game, the Jags played their best defensive game of the year. The Jags made 15 of the 18 outs by defensive plays. 2B Nathaniel Moss and 3B Matt Merrill had some web gems in the field. Both teams played fundamental baseball in the field. Logan Stolz had 2 hits including a well placed bunt down the 3rd base line. Will Grantham went 3 for 3 in the game. Ben Replogle pitched a complete game, striking out 2, walking 2 and 1 HBP and gave up on 2 hits as the Jags beat the Owasso Longhorns 6-1 to capture the Championship. The 12U Jags improved their record to 17-7-1 on the season.

HWSA Silver Division Champions! - May 1

NOAH Jaguars capture the Silver Division Championship in Auburndale, Florida. Senior Austin Ervin pitched a complete game to lead the Jags 8-1 over Charlotte, NC in the finals. The Jags played superb defense behind Ervin.

Seniors Austin Ervin and Erik Willis along with sophomore Joe Sabatini were named to the HWSA All-Tournament Team. Coach Blake said it was team effort to win 3 straight games onto capturing the Championship. There were many outstanding plays in the field to go along with some timely hits.

The Jags finished the season with a 13-13 record.

The Varsity Jags are playing in the Homeschool World Series in Auburndale, Florida.

The Jags got off to a rough start in pool play losing both games. They lost to Atlanta Knights 11-7 and Houston Falcons 13-0. With the two losses, the Jags were placed in the Silver Division.

The Jags avenge an earlier season loss to the Riders by coming from behind to beat them 8-7. Jags will play Weukasha Saints from Wisconsin on Friday at 11:35 with the winner advancing to the Silver Division Championship.

NOAH started off with one run in the 1st inning after Jeb Penrod reached on a double then scored on Joe Sabatini's triple. In the second inning 2nd baseman Ryan Blake turned a nice double play to end the inning. In the top of the 3rd the Jags added another run. Jeb reached on a single (going 3 for 3 on the day) and scored on Joe Sabatini's RBI single giving the Jags a 2-0 lead over the Patriots. In the bottom of the 3rd the Patriots scored one run but then in the 5th added 6 runs on 7 hits, a walk and an error. The Patriots added another unearned run in the 6th to give them 8 runs over the Jags 2 runs.

Joe Sabatini started for the Jaguars allowing 7 runs (5 earned), 6 hits, 5 walks and 5 strikeouts. Josh Ferguson relieved in the 5th inning allowing one unearned run with one hit and one strikeout.

The first inning started off with a bang. Caleb Baca in the lead off spot started with a long double to left field. Jeb Penrod followed with a single and then both scored on John Tyree's 2 rbi double giving the Jags an early lead. Unfortunately the Hornets answered with two runs of their own after a walk, triple and sacrifice fly. Neither team could score in the 2nd. The Jags had bases loaded with 2 hit batsmen and 3 singles and added one run to their score. The Hornets came back strong in the bottom of the third and scored 6 runs on a home run, 2 doubles, a walk, and two errors. The Jaguars loaded the bases again in the 5th but couldn't score any runs. The Hornets added 5 more runs in the 4th with a walk, another home run, a double, and three singles. The game ended with Hilldale on top 13-3.

A tough loss in extra innings. The Jaguars and the Pirates played a good tough game against each other on another beautiful night. The game was scoreless until the 5th inning. In the first inning Jeb Penrod hit a double but was left stranded. In the 4th inning Joe Sabatini hit a one out triple but couldn't get home. In the top of the 5th Bristow scored 2 runs on 3 singles and an error. In the 6th the Jags answered with two runs to tie the game. John Tyree reached on an error then scored on Joe Sabatini's double and then Joe later scored after Caleb Baca reached on an error (one of three errors in the inning). In the 6th the Pirates threatened and with bases loaded. Catcher Joe Sabatini made a diving catch of a foul ball to end the inning. Neither team scored in the 7th inning putting the game into extra innings. In the top of the 8th the Pirates got one run giving them the lead. In the bottom of the Caleb Baca hit a two out single followed by Josh Ferguson's single but neither were able to come in to score.

Austin Ervin pitched 5 solid innings allowing 2 runs, 1 earned, 4 singles, and 4 strikeouts. John Tyree relieved in the 6th inning and started the 8th inning before Cole Wilson relieved him. John Tyree allowed one unearned run on 3 hits and 2 walks. They hit two hits on Cole before the game ended on a fly ball that Erik Willis caught with bases loaded.

The NOAH JV won 4-3 scoring all 4 runs in the bottom half of the last inning. The JV extends their winning streak to 7 games.

On a beautiful night for baseball the Jags had their bats active. In the first game they had 10 hits including a double by Andrew Smith and a triple by Jeb Penrod. The Jags scored one run in the first then with 6 hits, and 4 walks, an error and to sacrifice flies in the 3rd the Jags added 10 more runs then added four more runs in the 4th inning. In the bottom of the 4th the Panthers started out with two hits and both came in to score for their only runs. John Tyree, Joe Sabatini and Caleb Baca each had 2 hits a piece.

Starting pitcher Andrew Smith pitched 2 innings with 2 strike outs and 2 walks and no runs and no hits. Reliever Wes Shaffer pitched the remaining two innings allowing 2 runs on 2 hits with 4 strike outs.

Game 2 started out a little closer. NOAH got four runs in the first including Cole Wilson's 2 RBI home run. The Panthers answered with 3 runs on 2 hits and and two errors in the bottom of the first. Neither team scored in the 2nd inning. In the 3rd inning with 3 singles the Jags added 2 more runs to lead 6-3 but the Panthers came back and added two more runs to bring the score to 6-5. In the 4th the Jags added 6 more runs and then 7 runs in the top of the fifth. In the bottom of the 5th Barnsdall added 3 more runs bringing the game to an end with the Jags on top 19-8. Cole Wilson had 3 hits on the night including his first home run of the year and 4 RBIs. Ben Bradley, Wes Shaffer and Erik Willis each had two hits each. Ben Bradley also had 4 rbis for the night.

JV wins Bristow Festival - Apr 10th

The NOAH JV baseball team beat Cleveland JV 6-5 on Friday. On Saturday, they beat Sapulpa JV 2-1 and Mannford JV 11-8 to win the Bristow JV Festival.

The JV also beat the Webster varsity in a double header on Thursday, April 8.

The JV record is now 12-8 on the season.

The Varsity Jags will be playing a DH at Barnsdall on Monday, April 12th.

Both teams will be back home field at LaFortune Park on Tuesday Apr 13th vs 4A Bristow Pirates. First pitch is 4:30 with JV to follow.

The tournament games for Friday night were rained out. Amazingly they were able to play games on Saturday after over 6 hours of rain on Friday night. The fields were still wet and soggy but playable.

The first game was against the Blue Eye Bulldogs from Missouri, the Southwest Central League 2009 champions. They went ahead of the Jaguars early following a grand slam in the 1st inning. The Jags finally got their first run in the 3rd after John Tyree hit a sacrifice fly scoring Caleb Baca. Then in the third the Bulldogs hit another home run giving them a 6-1 lead. The Jags added a run in the 3rd, 4th, and 6th but not enough to overcome the lead built by the Bulldogs. Jebadiah Penrod and Ben Beaver each had two hits in the game.

Sam Brownwood started the game for the Jaguars. He allowed 5 runs (3 earned), 2 hits (1 home run), 1 hit by pitch, 3 walks and 2 strikeouts. Austin Ervin made his Jaguar debut pitching 4 good innings. He allowed one earned run, 5 hits (with a double and a home run), 1 walk and 4 strike outs. Cole Wilson closed the game with 3 up 3 down.

The second game was against the Pocahontas Redskins from Arkansas. The game was scoreless through 3 innings. John Tyree was doing a great job pitching. Right fielder Ben Bradley threw out a runner at home plate to prevent them from scoring in the 2nd inning. In the top of the 4th the Jags scored 3 runs. Joe Sabatini started the inning with his first double of the day and scored on an error that put Ryan Blake on base. Erik Willis walked then scored on Cole Wilson's RBI single. Cole stole second base and then Ryan came in to score and steal home. In the 5th inning Andrew reached on a blooper single, stole 2nd, then scored on Jebadiah Penrod's 1st HOME RUN of the year giving the Jags a comfortable 5-0 lead. In the bottom of the 5th, the Redskins answered with a two run homer. But the Jaguars weren't done scoring yet adding 4 more runs in the 6th inning. John Tyree hit a 2 run single then scored on Joe Sabatini's second double of the day. Erik Willis then hit his 2nd double of the day scoring Joe and giving the Jags a 9-4 lead which held up for the final score. Helping the Jags with two hits a piece in the game included Joe Sabatini, Erik Willis, Cole Wilson, and Josh Ferguson.

John Tyree started and recorded the win. He pitched 6 solid innings allowing 6 hits (1 double, 1 home run), one walk, and 4 strike outs. Cole Wilson closed the game with another 3 up 3 down inning with 2 strikeouts.

4th Place - because of the rain the tournament had every team play two games and then figured placement according to how many runs were allowed and what side of the bracket they were on after the first game. The Jaguars were awarded the 4th place trophy.

THIS WEEK: The JV Jaguars play this week against Webster on Thursday at Reed Park. Then the JV will play in a JV Festival in Bristow, OK on Friday and Saturday. Varsity's next game at this time is Monday, April 12th when they will play against Barnsdall followed by the JV game. Then another HOME GAME is Tuesday, April 13th at LaFortune Field against Bristow at 4:30! Come out and support the JAGUARS!!!

6A #15 Sand Springs beat the Jags 3-1 on a beautiful sunny 70 degree afternoon. The Sandites scored first in the 1st after 3 Jag errors. The Jaguars answered with one run in the bottom of the 1st. Andrew Smith lead off the game with a single then scored on Joe Sabatini's double. The Sandites got another run with the help of 2 more Jag errors in the 2nd inning. The third inning shortstop Jebadiah Penrod shut down their threat with a nice double play then Sam Brownwood struck out the next batter. In the bottom of the 3rd the Jags had the bases loaded but the Sandites recorded their own double play to end the inning. The Sandites scored one more run in the 4th inning. Catcher Joe Sabatini cut down the Sandites threat by throwing out two Sandites trying to steal during the game.

Pitcher Sam Brownwood had another great outing. He only allowed 4 singles in the game, 3 runs but only one earned. He walked 4 batters, hit one batter, and struck out 5 batters.

JV Jaguars beat the JV Sandites 8-2. Josh Ferguson pitched a complete game for the Jags.

The varsity will travel to Harrison, Arkansas to play in the Ozark Classic on Friday. The Jags will play highly ranked Blue Eye, Missouri on Friday at 5:30 p.m.

The JV will be playing in the Barnsdall Tournament at 10 a.m. on Thursday.

The 10U Jaguars won the BAYB Randy Broyles Pre-Season Tournament on March 26th. The Jags beat the BA Pirates in the first round 8-5. In the semi-finals, the Jags beat the Lincoln Christian Bulldogs 11-4. The Jags continued hitting the ball to beat the Pirates in the Championship game 6-2. The Jags will open season play on Monday at Indian Springs.

NOAH Jaguars beat Chelsea Green Dragons 7-3 to win the Chelsea Woodbat Tournament!

The Dragons took the lead in the bottom of the first going up 2-0. With one out the next two batters were walked then advanced on a passed ball and then both scored on Jag errors. The Jags answered with one run in the 2nd inning. Erik Willis hit a single then scored on Ryan Blake's infield hit. The Jags exploded for 5 runs in the 3rd inning. Andrew Smith led off with a bunt single. John Tyree followed with a single. Both scored after a throwing error by the Dragon's pitcher. Jebadiah Penrod reached on a walk, then stole two bases and scored when Caleb Baca reached on an error. Erik Willis followed with his 2nd single of the day, stole 2nd base, then both Baca and Willis scored on Ryan Blake's 2 out single giving the Jags a 6-2 lead over the Dragons. In the top of the 6th John Tyree reached on an error then scored on Jebadiah Penrod's RBI double. All was quiet on the Dragons side until the 7th. The lead off batter reached on a single then scored when a Dragon teammate hit a double but that was all they could manage. THE JAGS WON THE TOURNAMENT!!!

Starting NOAH Pitcher Andrew Smith recorded the win. He allowed 2 runs, both unearned, no hits, 2 walks and 4 strike outs. Cole Wilson pitched great in relief allowing 1 run, 2 hits, 2 hit batsmen, 4 strikeouts and also recording the save.

NOAH beats 2A Foyil 10-2 in the first round of the Chelsea Woodbat Tournament. The Panthers started out on top after scoring one run in the top of the 1st. The Jags answered with one run in the bottom of the first. A double play in the 2nd inning and a strikeout kept the Panthers from scoring in the 2nd inning. The Jags scored two runs in the 2nd. Erik Willis reached on a single, Cole Wilson was hit by a pitch then both scored on Andrew Smith's double. In the 3rd the Jags added 3 more runs. Ben Beaver reached on a walk then John Tyree singled. Erik Willis hit an RBI double then he scored on Cole Wilson's single giving the Jags a 6-1 lead. The Panthers scored a run in the 4th but the Jags answered with four more runs in the bottom of the fourth after two singles, two walks and two more hit batters. Erik Willis went 2 for 3 on the day including his RBI double.

NOAH Jaguars vs Nowata Ironmen

Our second game of the tournament was against 3A Nowata Ironmen. The Jags scored one run in the 2nd after Sam Brownwood's RBI double. They added one more in the 3rd after Joe Sabatini lead off the inning with a double and scored on a passed ball. All was quiet on the Ironmen's side as Sam Brownwood put on a pitching showcase. Only 2 batters reached base: one on a dropped third strike and one on an error. In the top of the 5th the Jags offense broke lose and scored 9 runs after 5 walks, one hit batter, an error, and 3 singles by the Jaguars. Sam Brownwood helped his team out offensively as well as defensively. He was 2 for three on the night with an RBI single and an RBI double. Andrew Smith and John Tyree had two hits apiece in the game. Jeb Penrod and John Tyree had 2 RBIs apiece as well. The Jaguars placed themselves in the championship game scheduled for Saturday at 3 pm (weather pending).

Starter Sam Brownwood pitched an incredible game! He pitched the complete 5 inning game (run rule applied after the Jags were leading by 8 or more runs after 5 innings). He pitched a shutout, no hits, walked one batter and recorded 11 strikeouts!

JV Diamond Jags Win Streak Reaches Four

The JV baseball team swept Edison JV on Friday, March 19th for their fourth win in a row.

The Jags won the first game 11-2 behind the pitching of Wes Shaffer and David Dawson. Ben Beaver pitched the second game for a 3-1 win.

The JV record is now 5-3, The JV will play a doubleheader against Kansas City Pembroke Hill JV on Monday, March 22nd at Metro Christian Field. First pitch is scheduled for 3:30.

The JV will also play in Depew's Darrell Fairchild Memorial Tournament. The first game will be on March 25th at 2:00 p.m. vs Kiefer.

The undefeated and defending 6A champions Rams pitched a 2 hit shut-out (singles by Erik Willis and Josh Ferguson). The Rams scored 7 runs in the 2nd inning and added 1 in the 3rd and two in the 4th. The game ended 10-0.

March 17

The second game of the day was against 5A #5 Bishop Kelley. In the 1st inning Andrew Smith reached base on a double (his first of two doubles for the day) and then scored on Sam Brownwood's rbi single. The Comets answered with 3 runs in the bottom of the first after 2 errors, 2 walks and a triple. The Jags threatened a few times but it wasn't until the top of the 7th before they added more runs. Erik Willis reached on a single and scored on Joe Sabatini's 2 run HOMER tying the score. That was the Jags first homer of the year and sent the game into extra innings. The Jags held the Comets scoreless in the bottom of the 7th, 8th, and 9th. In the top of the 10th Andrew Smith reached on a walk and was advanced around to 3rd and then scored the go ahead run on a beautiful rbi single by Ben Beaver. The Jags were on top 4-3. The Comets came up to bat bunting - 3 bunts in a row loading the bases and then the winning runs were walked in to give the Comets the game 5-4 after 2 and 3/4 hours of cold baseball!

Sam Brownwood was the Jaguar starter pitching 4 innings, 3 runs, 2 hits, 2 walks and 1 strikeout. Freshman pitcher Josh Ferguson relieved and pitched beautifully for 5 innings. He allowed 2 runs, 5 hits and hit one batter. Andrew Smith finished the game walking 2 batters.

March 18th

On a much warmer and nicer day for baseball the Jaguars faced the 4A #9 Jay Bulldogs in their third game of the Collinsville tournament. For the third game in a row the Jags recorded runs in their first at bats. Joe Sabatini hit a two out double then advanced to third on Jebadiah Penrod's single. Both came in to score on Sam Brownwood's 2 rbi single giving them a 2-0 lead over the Bulldogs. The Bulldogs answered with 5 runs on a single, 2 doubles, 2 walks and a hit batsman in the bottom of the 2nd. Then the Bulldogs added another run in the 3rd. The Jags threatened in the 2nd and 3rd but didn't score any more runs until the 4th. Ben Beaver had a single, followed by a walk of Erik Willis and then both scored on Andrew Smith's 2 rbi double giving the Jags 4 runs pulling within two of the Bulldogs. Unfortunately the Bulldogs added 2 more runs in their half of the inning after 4 hits and one walk. The Jags added one more run after Jeb Penrod singled and scored on Ben's second single of the day. The Bulldogs answered with two runs in the 5th. The Jags loaded the bases with one out but couldn't push across a run. In the 6th inning the Bulldogs added 3 more runs on 2 singles, a double and a walk to bring their score to 13 and an 8 run lead over the Jags to end the game with a final score of 13-5.

Locust Grove 10 NOAH 8 - March 16th

NOAH Jags vs Locust Grove Pirates

The Jaguars battled with the Pirates in their beautiful ballpark but in the end the Pirates were on top. The Jags scored with one run in the first but the Pirates answered with 3 in the bottom of the first. The Jags added another run in the second inning, scoreless in the 3rd but the Pirates added 3 more runs in their half of the 3rd. In the 4th the Jags had 4 singles and were able to get 3 more runs but again the Pirates added another run and the score was 7-5 in favor of the Pirates. In each of the following innings the Jags added one more run but the Pirates kept adding to their run total as well and won the game 10-8 over the Jaguars. Sam Brownwood was 3 for 4 at the plate and John Tyree and Ben Beaver each had two hits a piece. Joe Sabatini and Josh Ferguson had 2 rbi's a piece.

John Tyree was the starting pitcher allowing 3 runs, 3 hits, 2 walks, hit by pitch and 1 strikeout. Sam Brownwood relieve for 2 innings allowing 4 runs, one hit batter, 3 walks and 3 strikeouts. Cole Wilson finished off the last 2 innings allowing 3 runs, 2 hits, and one walk.

March 15

The Jaguars played at Reed Park tonight against the Webster Warriors. This was a make up game from the game last week when the field was too wet to play baseball. The Jaguars came out swinging in the first inning and went on top 6-0. Joe Sabatini was back in uniform for the Jaguars and lead off with a walk, stole 2nd, then scored on Jeb Penrod's rbi double. Cole Wilson put down a sacrifice bunt but was safe at first on an error. Andrew Smith followed with an rbi double scoring Cole. Ben Beaver reached after being hit by a pitch then later scored on a passed ball. John Bartlett hit a single and later scored on Sam Brownwood's rbi single. In the 2nd inning Erik Willis lead off with a single (going 2 for 3 on the night). Ben Beaver again was hit by a pitch. Josh Ferguson hit a single scoring both runners on base. In the 3rd John Tyree reached after being hit by a pitch and scored on Andrew Smith's 2nd rbi double of the night. Then Andrew was able to score after Erik Willis hit another single. In the 4th Sam Brownwood also reached after being hit by a pitch then scored on Jeb Penrod's 2nd rbi double of the night. That put the Jags up 11-1 and the game was called according to the run rule in the bottom of the 4th.

High School Baseball - Schedule Update - March 10th

Tuesday's March 9th game against Webster is rescheduled for Monday, March 15th. The Jags will play at Webster's Reed Park on Union and West 41st. Varsity first pitch is 5:30 p.m. followed by JV.

Jags travel to play at 4A Locust Grove on Tuesday, March 16th at 4:30 p.m. followed by JV.

The Jags will be playing in the Collinsville Tournament on March 17th, 18th and 20th. The Jags open pool play games on March 17th against 6A #1 Owasso at 1:30 and 5A #5 Bishop Kelley at 4:00 p.m. The final game of pool play will be on Thursday, March 18th against 4A #9 Jay at 11:00 a.m. Championship round will be on Saturday.

Jags improve record to 4-2 with a 13-0 win over Mounds. On a beautiful night for baseball, the Jaguars came out swinging their bats. Every Jaguar starter had either a hit, an RBI, or scored a run. The Jaguars had 11 hits, all singles, and scored 13 runs and 10 stolen bases. Cole Wilson scored 3 times with 2 singles, 4 stolen bases, and 2 RBIs. John Tyree was 2 for 2, 2 stolen bases, 2 walks, scoring twice, and 1 RBI. Andrew Smith was 2 for 3 with 2 stolen bases and 3 RBIs. Erik Willis was 2 for 3 with 2 stolen bases and one RBI. Ben Beaver was also 2 for 3 and scored 3 times and had one RBI. The Jaguars had their first game of the year without an error. The Eagles struggled and committed 7 errors over 5 innings of play.

Starting pitcher Andrew Smith pitched two innings and recorded the win. He allowed one single, walked one batter and struck out 4 Eagles. Cole Wilson closed out the final 3 innings with one single and 3 strike outs.

The Jags played at 6A Sand Springs on a very chilly night. The Sandites blanked the Jaguars and held them hitless. The Sandites scored 5 runs in the first on 3 walks and 2 singles. They added another run on 2 hits in the 3rd. In the 4th they added 3 more runs with 2 hits, a wild pitch and and a passed ball. They added the final run in the bottom of the 6th and run ruled the Jags 10-0.

Starter John Tyree took the loss. Sam Brownwood relieved for 2 1/3 innings.

In the nightcap, the NOAH JV lost 10-7 to the Sand Springs JV. The Jags scored first with one run in the first, but then were down 10-1. They came back and scored 5 runs in the 4th and then another one in the 5th to make it 10-7. Good job of fighting and hanging in there Jags!!

The weather was much improved over Friday's rainy game. It was still a crisp start to the game with the temperatures in the low 40's and no wind at game time but the temperature would go up throughout the game. The Jaguars started out extremely strong in the 1st inning. After 15 batters came to the plate with five singles, two errors, a hit by pitch, a walk and doubles by Cole Wilson, Andrew Smith and Caleb Baca the Jags were up by 11 runs. The Jags added 3 more runs on 3 singles in the 2nd. The Broncos put up two runs in the 2nd but that was all they could manage in the game. The Broncos held the Jags scoreless in the 3rd but in the 4th after 2 singles, 3 walks and 3 errors (out of the 10 total for the Broncos in the game) the Jags added 6 more runs. A double by John Tyree and 2 errors gave the Jags two more runs for a total of 22 runs. The game was on a time limit so ended after 4 1/2 innings.

Andrew Smith was the starter for the Jaguars. He allowed 2 hits, 2 unearned runs, 3 strike outs and 4 walks. Josh Ferguson relieved for 1 2/3 innings with one strikeout and Ben Beaver wrapped up the game with one hit and one walk.

The win advanced the Jaguars to the 5th place game at 2 pm.

5th Place Game Southwest Shootout Plano TX

Saturday, Feb 27th 2 pm

What a beautiful day for baseball - upper 50's and light wind and sunny. The Jaguars played the Little Rock Flames again. In the first inning Sam Brownwood scored the 1st run for the Jaguars after a single, stolen base and scoring on Andrew Smith's RBI single. In the second, John Tyree hit a two RBI double and brought the Jags total to three. Jeb Penrod hit a single and then stole 2 bases before scoring on an error in the 3rd. A beautiful double play by first baseman John Tyree put an end to a Flames threat in the 2nd inning. He jumped up and snagged a ball in the air then came down and tagged 1st base. In the 5th Ben Bradley walked, stole 2nd base, advanced on a passed ball then scored. In the 6th inning they broke lose for 5 more runs with singles by Eric Willis and Penrod (who was 4 of 5 on the day with 2 RBIs) a couple errors and a walk. The Flames finally removed their zero and scored 2 runs on 2 hits in the 6th inning. Andrew Smith ended the inning with a double play after catching a fly ball in shallow center and gunning down the runner at home plate. In the 7th Willis lead off the inning with a single advancing to 3rd on an error then scoring on Penrod's RBI single. The Flames added 2 more runs in the bottom of the 5th but it wasn't enough. The Jaguars won 11-5.

Starter Sam Brownwood pitched 2 strong innings with 2 hits and 3 strikeouts. Cole Wilson relieved for 4 1/3 innings with 5 runs (3 earned), 4 strike outs, and 2 walks. Andrew Smith relieved for the last 2 outs and walked one and striking out the last two batters.

Every player contributed and played an important role in the play of the Jaguars. Outstanding tournament play included John Tyree who was 4 for 8 with 2 doubles, 7 walks, a sac bunt, 5 runs scored, 5 RBIs and a stolen base. Jeb Penrod who was 6 for 17 with a triple, 2 stolen bases, 5 RBIs and 4 runs scored. Andrew Smith was 5 for 12, with 2 doubles, 4 walks, 4 RBIs, 4 runs scored, 3 stolen bases and throwing out two runners trying to steal.

The Jaguars return to action Monday night @Sand Springs at 4:30 pm.

The second game of the tournament for the Jags started out cool but then the mist, drizzle and light rain moved into the area and made it cold and wet. The Riders posted the first score of the game going ahead 1-0 in the 2nd inning. The Jaguars went ahead in the 3rd inning after Freshman Caleb Baca reached on an error and Senior Sam Brownwood was hit by a pitch and both scored on wild pitches. The score remained tied and the Jags missed several scoring opportunities stranding 8 over the entire game. In bottom of the 6th after retiring the first two batters Freshman Wes Shaffer struggled and walked three batters in a row. Sophomore Cole Wilson relieved and faced Rider Billy Carr who already had two hits in the game. He hit a 2 RBI single to give the Riders the lead 4-2. The Jaguars had one more at bat but were retired 3 up 3 down.

Senior John Tyree pitched 4 solid innings allowing 2 runs, only one earned on 4 hits with 5 strikeouts and two walks. Wes Shaffer relieved in the 5th and recorded two strike outs and 4 walks before Cole Wilson relieved in the 6th facing two batters.

The Jaguars got off to a great start for the 2010 season with a 9-1 win against the Little Rock Flames in the seeding round of the Southwest Shootout.

The Jags jumped to an early lead in the 1st inning with 3 runs. Junior Jeb Penrod hit an RBI triple in the first inning for NOAH. In the top of the second the Flames scored one unearned run for their only run of the game. In the 3rd inning the Jags scored 2 more runs after 4 walks and a run scoring on a passed ball. In the 4th inning, Senior Andrew Smith hit an RBI double and the Jags were now on top 6-1. In the 5th inning, Josh Ferguson hit an RBI single and then later scored on an error. Andrew Smith started off the 6th inning with a double, advanced on a flyout and then scored on a wild pitch. The Jaguars had 6 stolen bases in the game to help their scoring opportunities and winning the game 9-1 over the Flames.

Jag Starter Sam Brownwood pitched 3 solid innings with 6 strikeouts and 1 walk. Cole Wilson relieved in the 4th inning and struck out 7 over the next 3 innings with 2 walks. Wes Shaffer closed out the game for the Jags and struck out 1 batter.

The Jaguars face the Ft. Worth Riders at 10 am Friday morning quarter final game and then play again at 3 pm.

NOAH standout signs with Coffeyville

Outfielder/Pitcher Andrew Smith of Tulsa NOAH (Northeast Oklahoma Association of Homeschools) recently signed a letter of intent to play baseball at Coffeyville Community College in Coffeyville, Kan. The signing ceremony took place at Stinchcomb Mansion in Broken Arrow.

"I am thankful for the opportunity NOAH has given me to improve my skills while playing high school baseball” Smith said. “It allowed me to be better prepared to play at the college level. I 'm looking forward to playing at the next level in Coffeyville next year." Smith, a Broken Arrow resident and four-year starter for the NOAH varsity, was named to the Homeschool Baseball All-Regional team last season. As a junior last spring, he helped the Jaguars to a runner-up finish in the Homeschool Baseball Regionals and a trip to the Homeschool World Series with a team leading .329 batting average, three home runs, and an impressive .561 slugging percentage. Smith also appeared on the mound in eleven games. He struck out 25 batters while walking 11 to post a 3-2 record and two saves.

“Andrew exhibits great character as a well grounded young Christian man and as a player. He is passionate about baseball and a highly motivated young man. His work ethic will allow him to accomplish whatever he sets out to do. He is a talented player that I look forward to coaching this year and watching for years to come” said Head Coach Ray Blake.

Attention: NOAH is currently taking online registration for Spring Recreational Teams. Please email Darron Replogle at baseball@noahjags.org to pre-register for the Spring 2010 team. Please include your son’s name, birthdate, shirt size (ie 8-10), two favorite jersey numbers, grade and team played for last year.

Sign-ups will be 9:00-11:30 a.m. on January 30th. All players will need to attend sign-ups to bring forms and money at Springs of Grace Church – 7123 East 7th (main entrance is on 6th street between Memorial and Sheridan).

Practices will start in March.

Elementary Players:

Who: Homeschool Players Grades K-5th grade. CETBO has a September 1st cutoff date. So your age will determine the grade.

NOAH has a No Pay No Play policy and a No Refund Policy on player fees. There are some exceptions to these rules but they are rare. Make check payable to NOAH.

**Update** Hot News: Eligible Players – Players that attend private schools such as Mingo Valley and/or St. Augustine or other private schools that the school is within the CETBO boundaries will be able to sign-up through NOAH. If you are a private school player and played for NOAH last year, please pre-register with NOAH. If you are new to the program, you must attend signups on January 30th.

We will wear the same uniform design as last year which was royal blue t-shirt, belt and socks, grey pants, royal blue cap. You are allowed to wear last year’s uniform so long as it still looks good.

There will be opportunity to purchase additional Jagwear for siblings, grandparents, parents such as hoodies, caps and t-shirts.

Last Year Players: Homeschool and private school players that played on a NOAH team last year are given the option to get your name on the roster before Jan. 23rd. Signups on Jan. 30th will be on first come, first serve basis. The reason for this is to twofold. First, we want to reward those players that have been in the NOAH program a spot on the team and secondly we want to keep the roster down to a maximum of 12 players or less. To reserve your name on a roster, you must email your birthdate, your current grade and the team you played on last year to me at this email or your coach. If you commit early, you will still need to attend the sign-ups on Jan. 30 to turn your paperwork in, uniform sizing and pay your fees.

Baseball Spring 2010 Competitive Team Tryouts – 10U/11U/12U/13U/14U

For all tryouts please arrive 30 minutes early for sign-in and to warm-up.

All prospects should dress in baseball attire and bring your glove and bat. Tryouts will commence on time as indicated below. You should start throwing the baseball now. Don’t wait until the week of tryouts to start throwing the baseball. Your arm will be tested at various ranges during the tryouts. You don’t want to jeopardize an injury for failure to prepare now and cost your chance at a spot on the team.

All team rosters are open. If you played on a NOAH competitive team last year, you must tryout again this year.

The tryouts will last approximately 2 to 2 1/2 hours. Depending on the number of prospects, it could be longer.

Tryout Location: NOAH Practice Fields located at 83rd and S. 129th East Ave. (between 81st and 91st) at the New Creations Church. There are no restroom facilities at the practice fields. The nearest facility is at the QuikTrip at the corner of 81st and Garnett. Please take care of business prior to tryout.

Roster: Each team will be limited to 10 or 11 players. Please note that if we have enough players to form odd age teams like an 11 yr old and/or 13 yr old team, we will form teams accordingly. For the evaluation purposes, we are combining ages. Players must be homeschool. Private school players that were on a NOAH roster as of 9/1/09 will be grandfathered into the NOAH baseball program.

Fees: Expect to pay anywhere from $200-300 plus $100-120 uniform cost.

2010 League: All competitive teams will play at Indian Springs (131st and 145th east ave.) There are 14-16 regular season games plus 3-5 weekend tournaments. Please note, there will be occasional tournament games played on Sunday at varying times during the day.

FAQs

Will there be another tryout date if I can’t make these dates? Maybe but not guaranteed, we are looking to field a competitive team. Therefore, if after the evaluations there are not 10-11 players with above average skill, we could have another tryout date in November or December.

What if my son is not selected for the competitive team? Depending on his skill level, he could be placed on an “alternate” list in case there’s a spot that becomes available before the season starts. NOAH encourages all players to keep working on their skills and to play on the developmental team or tryout out for another competitive team. Life is full of failures and successes, just because they don’t make the NOAH team, inspire them to continue honing their skills. There will be developmental teams available for 12 and younger players. Developmental team signups will be January 2010. Last year, we had enough interest to form a 14U developmental team. Our first priority is field a competitive team. If there’s enough interest we will do whatever possible to have developmental teams. Tentatively, developmental teams will play at Indian Springs this spring.

Who will coach the teams? I am in the process of evaluating and selecting a head coach for each team. I desire to have a head coach in place before the tryouts but due to the tryout process and number of teams involved, that determination may not take place until the tryouts or thereafter. The evaluators for the tryouts will be coaching candidates as well as members of the high school coaching staff.

If you want to be considered as a head coach candidate, please submit your application to me ASAP and note team applying for. Of course it will depend on if your son earns a spot on the team.

The 2009 Jaguar Fundamental Baseball Clinic will be this Saturday, Sept. 26th from 1:00-3:30 p.m. at the NOAH practice fields located on 129th east avenue between 81st and 91st. Be there 20-30 minutes early.

The cost for the clinic is $10 to cover your t-shirt and hot dogs. Today is the last day to get the t-shirts ordered. There will be t-shirts available at the clinic but we can not guarantee your size will be available.

Tulsa NOAH Jaguars will be conducting open tryouts for their high school program on October 10, 2009 at 1 p.m. Current and new players will need to tryout.

NOAH is a homeschool organization with the specific objective of providing athletic and educational services to the homeschooling community. These services are provided to promote a positive Christian atmosphere for all who participate. Our desire is to maintain a high standard of character, competition, and safety for all our participants.

NOAH welcomes ALL homeschool students who wish to participate in our baseball program. Private school players who have played with NOAH prior to 9/1/09 will be grandfathered into the NOAH program. However, as members of HWSA (Homeschool World Series Association), private school players are not allowed to play in the HWSA Championships in Florida.

Tryout Location: NOAH Practice Fields located at 83rd and S. 129th East Ave. (between 81st and 91st) at the New Creations Church. There are no restroom facilities at the practice fields. 2010 Schedule: Varsity will play 25-30 and JV will play 20-25 games against local private and public school teams as well as 2-3 tournaments. NOAH plays their home games at LaFortune Park. Practices will begin in December. Season starts first week of March and concludes with the HWSA Championships in Auburndale, Florida on April 26-May 1st, 2010. The schedule is in the process of being completed.

NOAH Football Half-time Recognition - Sept 4th

The baseball program will be recognized at the NOAH football home opener this Friday, September 4th. The football Jags will play Tulsa Rogers at 7:30 p.m.

NOAH's home field is located at the Broken Arrow South Intermediate on 101st just east of Elm Street.

All 2009 baseball players and coaches will be admitted free if they wear a game jersey and/or cap. Just tell the gate attendee you play baseball for NOAH.

Right before halftime, meet at the end of the field by the locker room. The PA guy will announce the baseball program and you can walk on the field in front of the home crowd to be recognized. The volleyball and soccer programs will also be recognized.

The NOAH 12U team was recently crowned champions in the Broken Arrow Youth Baseball 12U Recreational Division. The Jags finished the regular league season with a 14-0 record. Overall, the Jags finished the season with a 18-4 record!

The NOAH 10U Competitive Team won the Owasso USSSA Qualifer tournament over the weekend. The Jags went 1-1 in pool play beating the Collinsville Dirtybirds 14-3 on Evan Jacoby's no-hitter. Chelsea Regulators beat the Jags 16-14 in the next pool play game.

The Jags started in the Championship bracket with a 32-3 win over the Owasso Rangers highlighted by a Jonathan Harrington grand slam in the first inning! The Jags bats got hot and the game was called in the second inning due to mercy rule. The Jags took on the #1 seed Grove Ridegrunners in the semi-finals. Grove jumped out to 4-0 lead going into the 3rd inning. Peter Arjay hit a 2-out 3-run double in the left field gap to make the score 4-3. He later scored on an Evan Jacoby RBI single to centerfield. The Jags scored 3 more runs with 2 outs to take a 7-4 lead. Jags scored 5 more runs in the last inning and held on to win 12-5 to advance to the championship game against undefeated Skiatook Giants. Jono Harrington pitched a 5 inning complete game.

The Jags faced the Giants in the Championship game. The Giants were big team but the Jags fought and clawed their way to a 12-6 victory. Matty Merrill pitched a 5 inning complete game. Congratulations boys and coaches!
